My Journey
When I first discovered my passion for massage and healing eighteen years ago I was working in an office whilst completing my qualification during the evenings and weekends. The more I learned the more I felt there was to learn. It was in 2006 with my qualification in my hand my home business was born. I was in my element bringing together my intuitive skills and my love of science. There was still an underlying battle; the feeling as though I had to sit in one camp or the other.
With a love of learning I started my Diploma in Remedial Massage. Life was busy to say the least, working full time in an office, running my business and planning a wedding to the love of my life! My knowledge of bodywork, movement, energy and how the mind works deepened as I continued my formal education and my own journey of self-development and healing.
I took the leap and joined the team at Hillarys Chiropractic and Wellness Professionals in 2009. Further challenge and joy came with the birth of our first daughter, then a second and third daughter.  Now I was learning who I was as a mother, as well as a business owner.
In 2016 I stepped completely out of my comfort zone. I was absolutely terrified yet knowing that I had to listen to and follow my intuition in order for my goals and aspirations to become a reality. I had already gained the understanding that to get where I wanted to be, I had to get past my current comfort zone and dig deep. I started teaching massage at a college. This work challenged me on every level! I was to share my knowledge with others. I spent every spare minute that I could preparing my lectures so I would have all the answers. An impossible expectation. I ended up loving teaching as much as I love working as a therapist! I got to share my experience, knowledge and love of bodywork and movement with budding therapists from all over the globe. Having this experience was life changing. I began to realise that my journey and experience was of value to others.
I hired my first therapist in 2018 and completed my Certificate III and IV in Fitness all whilst teaching, running my business, as well as raising our young children. Thank goodness for my incredibly supportive husband who believes in me and what I do!
Due to COVID and lock down, this gave me time to reflect on where myself and my business needed to be. At a time when things were so uncertain, I made the exceedingly difficult decision not to return to teaching. I had injured my back and was in a great deal of pain all of the time. Intuition was telling me to put my full attention into further growing my own business.
I embarked on further coaching, self development and study (Diploma in Clinical Pilates) to deepen my knowledge and expand my qualifications and skills around current evidence-based practices. I learned more about pain and how to release it. Yes, I love to learn and when intuition calls, I now answer, even if it does not always seem like it’s the right time. It must be both for me. The spiritual and the physical. Not one or the other.
I am now completely pain free. I have helped many others move forward from pain because of my own experience. My love of connecting with people, movement and my innate curiosity continues to drive me forward. After so many years I still love what I do! I am blessed to be entrusted to support others on their journey. I love watching someone emerge from my clinic room after their treatment now calm and peaceful and moving more freely. I love consulting and collaborating with other wellness and medical practitioners on how to best support our patients and clients. I love empowering and supporting people of any age in becoming strong, fit and flexible. After 18 years in the industry I have a network of people around me that get as much joy out of supporting others as I do! My husband and our three beautiful daughters are my biggest cheerleaders.  The journey isn’t easy but it sure is worth it and I am loving every minute.
